Here are 4 ways to harness the power of the Mercury Retrograde and not lose your mind.

As I become more spiritually attuned, the impact of Mercury Retrograde becomes stronger. It’s like walking in waist deep water for two weeks.  As a Virgo, Mercury is my ruling planet.  This means the priestess of communication, travel, and thought, Mercury is busy, busy in my life.

From September 27 to October 18, chances are Mercury will be showing her whole ass in your life, too.

In previous retrogrades, I couldn’t understand why I was rageful one moment, sad the next, and then annoyed that I was rageful and sad for no apparent reason. Then I’ll check my feed, and be like ‘Oh, the whole world is a shit storm.’

Madi Murphy, co-founder of The Cosmic RX and The Cosmic Revolution, said it best: "This Mercury retrograde is going to go in like a Real Housewives Reunion show and go out like the end of a SoulCycle class."

Damn.

I don’t care how many pandemics I go through, there is nothing like the beat tiredness of a SoulCycle class. And it’s exactly how I feel toward the end of a retrograde.

Instead of fighting it and fighting against missed deadlines, I breathe deeply, tell Ms. Mercury to pop a squat and let me know what I need to know. Though she’s chaotic, she is wise AF.

Here is how you can harness her power:

  • Your experience of time is slower. Don’t fight it. Take time to rest. Lighten your workload. Reschedule non urgent meetings and events so you can process what comes up. Book a massage or two.

  • Don’t ignore the people that ‘pop up’ from the past. There is something for you to heal or address. Cue Biggie because I got a story to tell on this later. If you find yourself ruminating about the past or someone from your past shows up, ask God ‘What am I meant to heal?’ You will get an answer in divine time.

  • Don’t go into hypervigilance, but get a case for that new iPhone. I know what astrologers say about not negotiating contracts or making major commitments. Use your intuition with this, but don’t think avoidance will escape the issues that have already been there. If a deal keeps getting delayed, don’t push it. Keep open water bottles away from your laptop and you’ll be fine.

  • It’s okay to cry and not know why you are crying. It’s a whole lot of energy to process and crying is one of the most constructive ways to do it.

Grab your favorite journal. Take a bath.

Whatever you do, don’t tune Mercury and her gifts out.
